Thesis : Modelling of irrigation water requirements on a territorial scale.

Thesis is being funded as part of the A3P project.

The INRAE-Avignon Université EMMAH (Environnement Méditerranéen et Modélisation des AgroHydrosystèmes) joint research unot is looking for a PhD student for a thesis dedicated to the modelling of irrigation water requirements on a territorial scale. The thesis is being funded as part of the A3P project, which aims to develop a digital service for managing irrigation authorisations on the scale of the territorial entity concerned by the management of one or more water resources.
The aim of the thesis will be to implement crop models on a territorial scale, which will be used to estimate irrigation water requirements and forecast them over the growing season. The scale of the territory implies taking into account all the irrigated crops present on the territory and taking into account the variability of the cropping operations as well as the heterogeneity of the pedoclimatic conditions. The implementation of crop models in a context of parsimonious data remains a scientific challenge that we wish to address in this work.
The academic work will enable us to tackle research on scientific fronts, while at the same time being part of a finalised project in close interaction with companies (Aquasys, agricultural sectors, etc.).
The thesis will be carried out in the EMMAH laboratory at the INRAE centre in Avignon. The thesis can start as soon as possible from June 1st.
