Samples and field measurements

Samples and field measurements on maize and its rhizosphere - ARVALIS site in Montardon

Within the framework of the new transversal axis 3 ("analysis of interactions between agricultural practices, production and use of water resources based on the integration of operating models on a territorial scale") of the UMR EMMAH, members of the SWIFT and CAPTE teams have set up an internal project to compare phenotyping of aerial and rhizospheric traits of different maize genotypes: from germination to flowering.

At the ARVALIS site in Montardon (Pau-Pyrénnées Atlantiques), we carried out a campaign to measure aerial traits (Lidar and hemispherical images in the field, skeleton images on sampled plants) and rhizospheric traits (collection of root mucilage, rhizosphere sampling). The dtat measurements and samples collected at the flowering stage of the 5 maize genotypes will be analysed (leaf area, transmittance and structure of aerial parts; exopolymeric substances, biomass and microbial activities, water retention for mucilage and rhizosphere soil).

We would like to thank our colleagues from ARVALIS for their welcome and support during this measurement and sampling campaign.
